I received my Masters degree in Arts Management from the University of Oregon in 2011, and moved to Santa Cruz, California to live my dream as the Arts Education Director for Arts Council Santa Cruz County.
I believe that art transforms individuals and entire communities, and that ART SAVES LIVES - it saved mine. It gave me a sense of belonging, purpose, identity, and connection to others when I needed it most. I believe participation in the arts empower, give voice, build esteem, and enhance quality of life. Participation in the arts break down barriers, builds communities, and provides valuable learning opportunities.
The arts are an essential part of every child’s learning and development, and my professional life has been dedicated to promoting the healthy development of students through standards based, sequential arts education in schools, and through culturally relevant and engaging after school community-based programs and museum partnerships.
I am committed to providing programs and resources to ensure equitable access to arts participation, I am dedicated to empowering others through creative expression to reach their full potential, and I am committed to pursuing equity, inclusivity, and justice through all of my work.
